Wellington's Samba no pe school was founded by Suzi Imes Bryce. With over 10 years of experience dancing and teaching Samba (and other Latin dance styles), Suzi is proud to bring Samba no pe to Wellington's community. Samba no pe is a vibrant and energetic solo dance style that originated in Brazil. The samba rhythm follows a 2/4 timing, where there are three foot movements for every bar of music. Samba reflects Brazil's unique heritage, which is influenced by West African traditions during Portuguese colonisation. Samba's rich rhythm and dynamic movements, showcased during Rio's Carnival, have made it a global phenomenon. Samba offers a lively and creative outlet that helps reduce stress and enhance both physical and mental well-being through expressive movement.
